Acrylic on canvas board, 8 x 8 inches.  This was the third painting done for the Will Kemp course on Still Life Acrylic Course. I’ve taken three or four courses on the Will Kemp Art School, and I recommend visiting his sight and making use of the free and “tuition” courses/activities there online.

The painting was based on a beautiful still live created by Will Kemp.  His favorite tea cup (made by his wife), and favorite Parisian delight, delicate macaron.  A pastel palette was used in this painting consisting of permanent alizarin crimson, ultramarine blue, titanium white, cadmium orange and burnt umber.  A deep base purple was made with equal amounts of utramarine blue.  The ground was made with a touch of the purple base, and a full load of white creating a dull purple.  The background color was made with a fully loaded palette knife of white, and a touch of permanent alizarin crimson creating a rich pinkish color.
