Shore: Watercolor on 9.5 x 7.5-inch board. The simplicity of the scene inspired me. I hadn’t used watercolors in some time. I limited my palette to just a few colors: burnt umber, titanium white, sap green, ultramarine blue.

Acrylic painting on 8-inch x 10-inch board. An article by Susan Abbott inspired this painting. Her report suggests painting in two colors. She talked about the value of using just two colors, a brown and a blue. In my case, I used burnt sienna & ultramarine blue and a little white (Titanium white). One of her challenges was to paint using just two colors, Edward Hopper’s sailing painting.
