Mixed media on board, 11 x 14 inches, 2016. I found this wonderful photo and used it as a reference to try my hand at the impasto technique that I had learned on a Craftsy course by Molly Herman.  Her course also introduced the bezold effect.
In this painting after sketching and doing an underpainting, I used very thick paint by mixing acrylics with Liquitex matte super heavy gel. Â The front side of the large building was done directly with acrylic paint, while the rest of the painting was done in impasto.
